Remembrance

I hope regular readers will forgive me a little self indulgence today, in a post a bit different to my usual style.

I was honoured to be asked to lay the wreath of Remembrance today for St. Mary’s Church and the Parish of Yate, at the Lytchgate memorial in the 2013 Service of Remembranc,e for the fallen in war.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, it brought back memories of Mum and Dad, both of whom served in the military in the Second World War, Mum in the RAF and Dad in the British Army, in which he served in Burma.

Dad never spoke about his experience in Burma before his death to cancer, and he never ate another banana after he came home.
