The 19th Sunday after Trinity
Gracious God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, we offer you this prayer for the life of the world and your people. We thank You for always watching over your creation.
Please bless our harvest. Thank you for blessing the land that grows the crops that feed us. We praise you for the rain that waters it and for the seed we plant. Thank you for the sun to ripen the crops and the seasons to plant, tend and gather them in.
Father God, You give us enough to feed all your people but not everyone can afford to buy the food. We pray for them and for those who are not paid a fair price for the food they grow. Forgive us when we fail to share Your bounty with people in need
We pray for the governments and charities working in the places where there is disaster, drought and starvation. Show us your grace so that we who live comfortable lives, can learn to be generous to everyone who has to live on less than we have.
Help us to show compassion and understanding to people who have lost their homes, like those fleeing war in Syria and other places. Let us welcome them not just with places to live but with homes where they become part of our communities.
Compassionate God, healer of the sick, companion to the lonely and friend to the homeless, send the healing power of Your love to all who need it. We pray for everyone waiting for treatment or recovering from it. We pray for those only you can heal whether known or unknown to us.
God of wisdom and grace, send Your spirit to encourage us and guide us in the coming week.
Christian Aid Harvest prayer
The earth is fruitful may we be generous.
The earth is fragile may we be gentle.
The earth is broken may we be just.
Creating God, harvest in us joy and generosity as we share in thanks and giving.
